Safe buying on BlackSea
Safe buying in your browser
- Your payment is protected with TLS — a higher level of security than SSL — with 256-bit encryption and modern SHA2 ciphers.
- Your payment is processed through PCI DSS–certified services. PCI DSS means our providers meet current security standards for handling payment information.
In other words, your card details are never stored when you buy on BlackSea. We don't have access to your card information — only a token that represents your card. The same applies to Apple/Google Pay data. This means that even if your BlackSea account, or BlackSea itself, were compromised, nobody would gain access to your payment data.
When you create an account, we use "salting" and "hashing" to store your encrypted password. This means that if an attacker were to get hold of our database, they would not be able to see users' passwords.
Your privacy
When you make a purchase on BlackSea, the seller will see:
- The email address you used for the purchase
- Your name or any other information you enter at checkout
They do not see your card information or the name on your card.
After your purchase, you'll be asked whether you'd like to receive updates from the seller. You can unsubscribe from updates at any time.
Apple/Google Pay
If you have Google Pay or Apple Pay enabled on your computer or mobile device, you can buy with just a few clicks.
Google Pay only works when a credit or debit card is linked to it. This means the button may not appear in some cases where bank accounts are linked to Google Pay.
