What constitutes "fraud"
We can't provide a full definition of fraud here, as that would mean revealing our strategy to the opposing team. Suffice it to say that "fraud" on BlackSea can be broadly defined as an attempt to violate our Terms of Service or to profit from BlackSea's payment system in a way that potentially harms BlackSea's business model.
A few indicators we use to detect fraud:
- Copyright infringement, i.e. a BlackSea creator selling goods they don't have rights to
- High fraud rates as indicated by our risk model, taking into account location, purchase data, and red flags in sales
Our sophisticated risk models have an exceptional degree of accuracy at high sales volumes. They are constantly being improved, and all account suspensions are manually reviewed by our risk team.
Why we suspend and disable accounts
As a company, we help creators earn a living doing what they love; part of that help involves acting and interacting with partners who are regulated by government regulatory bodies and the requirements of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Regulatory compliance requires us to take certain steps, some of which are implemented to ensure the detection and mitigation of fraud, as well as to protect and maintain a pleasant purchasing experience for the consumer.
This means we must not only suspend accounts deemed fraudulent, but also refund all funds transferred to those accounts back to their customers.
To protect our business and our reputation with banking partners and payment gateways, we are obligated to close accounts that violate our terms of service, have evidence of fraud, or pose a high chargeback risk. If your account has been suspended, please contact our support team for more information.
Why was my account permanently suspended?
Your account was suspended due to:
1) Violation of our Terms of Service, i.e. selling goods that are not allowed on BlackSea. You can review them here.
2) Your sales were either highly suspicious or showed signs of fraud, money laundering, or the use of stolen/hacked accounts
In either case, your account was deemed a financial liability by BlackSea or its banking partners, and we were forced to remove it from our system.
